Veteran's Day

I tell my students about my three dads and their service to our country.

I, however, am the only one that acknowledges this as they all didn't believe that they did much in their time in uniform.

My father was a medical officer in WWII, but alas, stateside.

My step-father, now an amazing 98 years young, was a young dentist in an ROTC setting during WWII, also stateside.

My father-in-law served between Korean and Vietnam, stateside in the Army radio corps.

None considered themselves a Veteran like others who served abroad. They all remember their time as a duty they were called to do, but without any kind of valor.

Today, I hold up my three dads with all the other Veterans and I say Thank you!
