Q.U.I.L.T.S.

Thankful for my Q.U.I.L.T.S. Ladies! Last night I was able to return to my quilt guild to participate in our annual Sew-In for the Northern Rivers Family Services, a collaboration of Northeast Parent & Child Society, Parsons Child & Family Center, and Unlimited Potential. From 4-9pm we sewed, cut, ironed, ate, had a brief business meeting. The results will all benefit the kids of Northern Rivers who are in some kind of foster or transitional care environments. My quilting pastime has been paused recently due to working full-time, having busy children, and just due to life. It was good to be back and to chat with the ladies. I was able to touch fabric, a very therapeutic activity for me, while I ironed many different things for those who brought their sewing machines. I was also about to catch up with friends from the last decade when I was quilting more than I was working. It was very nice and I am very, very thankful to have been able to participate even for one brief nig

Welcome November!

Welcome November!! This is my favorite month of the year. It contains a holiday which has nothing to do with gift giving, a gigantic and traditional meal with family, and the end of my favorite season, Autumn. As I used to do on Facebook, I will continue the tradition here and write about something for which I am grateful each day of this month. The exercise is sacred for me as well as deeply therapeutic. Therefore today, I am thankful for my parents and the sense of humor they cultivated within me. My father's deep baritone laugh could be heard through the walls of his office into our home as they were connected by a door off the dining room. My mother still laughs in all times as she asks everyone she meets for coat donations for Schenectady's City Mission. (Got coats? Call me. HA!) As I age this particular character trait carries more and more weight in value as I navigate all that life is, and more importantly, all that life isn't and should be, in my humble opinion! (

.....I lost my playground.

Once upon a time........I lost my playground. For 14 years Facebook has been my creative wonderland. I have shared my quilts at This Quilting Mama, my teaching things at Mrs. Makrin's Music Room, and my faith-based seasonal studies at both The Musical Advent Calendar and Lenten Reflections by LRM. Oh, and then there was my Quarantine Chronicles, Farm, Field and Fireside, at my beloved At Peace. I will miss these places where I could write, share, and be me. I will miss my audiences and my Facebook Family. A hacker has made this playground inaccessible for me and all my followers. There is no going back. That's OK. I'm here to grow and to share a new place for me to be. This blog is a sister to This Quilting Mama ( https://thisquiltingmama.blogspot.com/ ) and will be my new place to share.
